RESUMO
Brazil, due to its climatic diversity and of ecosystems allows a range of possibilities of oilseed plants for biodiesel production. New co-products are being generated, bringing the need to study the viability of use of those alternative feeding sources. The experiment was conducted in the Animal Research Laboratory of the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) and it aimed at the determination of the bromatologic composition and in vitro digestibility of the dry matter of red radish (TNF), jatropha (TPM) and lupine (TT) cakes and evaluation of the effect of adding these co-products on the quality of elephant grass silage. The products were ensiled in experimental PVC silos, fitted with BÃnsen-type valves, with a capacity of about 4kg. The experiment was set up according to a completely randomized design (CRD) with three replicates, in which the treatments were arranged according to a split plot scheme in time. The plot treatments followed a factorial scheme 3 x 3 (3 types of cakesâ forage radish, jatropha and lupine; 3 levels of inclusion of - 5, 8 and 11%) plus 1 additional treatment (only grass). The data were analyzed utilizing routines of the Statistical Analysis System software (SAS, 1999). The values of DM, EE, CP, NDF, ADF, NIDN, NIDA, MM, CEL, LIG, pH, PT, AGVÂs, N-NH3 and DIVMS were determined. There was effects of (P<0.05) of the levels of inclusion of the cakes on the DM contents of the silages, namely, TNF provided highest DM content to the silages. There was effect of the inclusion levels on the content of CP and EE of the silages, that is, the ones containing TT presented average values higher than those with TPM and TNF. The average contents of NDF and ADF were decreased (P<0.05) with the addition of the cakes at the different inclusion levels, namely, the lowest average values were obtained in the silages containing 11% of TT. There was effect of adding the cakes at the different levels on the average contents of LIG. DIVMS was decreased according to the addition of growing levels of the cakes, except for TT. Addition of red radish and lupine cakes at the levels studied are regarded as viable in elephant grass ensiling in regions of availability of these co-products.
