RESUMO

The present work aims to take part in the critical current that distinguishes the aesthetical and political sense of the moments before and after the civil-military coup detat in 1964, standing out what was in contest in the process interrupted by tanks and showing the regressive difference of the later resistance action. This interpretation tradition has in the essay Cultura e Política, 1964-1969 (1978), by Roberto Schwarz, and in the book A Hora do Teatro Épico no Brasil (1996), by Iná Camargo Costa, its main references. The historical and dramaturgical framing of the research pass through ten years, and contemplate a cycle of plays that begins with A Moratória (1955), by Jorge de Andrade, and finishes with Se corer o bicho pega, se ficar o bicho come (1965), by Vianinha and Ferreira Gullar. In this period begins, consolidates and falls (after de coup) the Brazilian Modern Theater experience, moment that one believes to be decisive to evolutive line of Brazilian Theater, because in this time occurred and intense process of internal accumulation that makes possible fast and radical changes in the theatric apparatus and in the formal structures of the plays: in the way of organization, the political terms of the theatric environment spilled out the professional theater scope and leads the creation of the Centros Populares de Cultura (CPCs) [Popular Centers of Culture], and in formal terms the limits of the Dramatic Form were surpassed by a critical perspective of the realism, that aims to show a dimension of the real that is not evident in the hegemonic conception of the reality. In a political sense, the core of aggregation of the works is the mode how the theatric form aesthetically figurated the Brazilian agrarian question. The bet is that the acknowledgment of the theatric formal approach of the agrarian question in different works makes possible organize an interpretation of the historical register of social and political experience in that context. The meanings of the direct or indirect presence in the play of characters by popular classes and its problems, as well as the uses of the theatric techniques by the playwrights, are parallel and concomitant axles of analyses, which have and conduct line in the dialectics mediation between social form and aesthetic form.
