RESUMO

This dissertation presents an analysis of Programa Nacional do Livro Didático (National Program of Textbook) PNLD, mainly the editions aimed at the last years of elementary school PNLD/1999, 2002, 2005, 2008 in order to identify it as an Implicit Language Policy. For this purpose, we have analyzed some laws, documents and official programs that preceded and directed the PNLD, along with some linguistic theories that exert influence upon the evaluation of textbooks. After the analysis of this materials and of five collections of textbooks that have participated in all editions of PNLD, we claim that the PNLD can be identify as an Implicit Language Policy.
