Pó de borracha reutilizado na confecção de compostos de borracha natural para a produção de peças de engenharia do setor automotivo

RESUMO
Due to the cross-linked structure and the presence of antidegradants, rubber products decomposition is very hard and the disposal of waste material has been caused many environmental problems. Therefore, rubber recycling and the use of it as raw material in fresh rubber compounds are strongly necessary to achieve more sustainable technological projects. The efforts of this study were based on supporting technically the application of recycled rubber material in the manufacture of automotive engineering parts. Thus, the use of reused rubber powder (PB) in natural rubber (NR) compounds was investigated. Nine NR compounds with up to 120 phr were evaluated comparatively to a NR compound already used in technical goods production. PB with particle size of 40 and 80 mesh obtained by cryomechanical grinding was evaluated, and the PB particle size distributions were characterized by vibratory sieves and laser diffraction. The NR/PB compounds were evaluated by FTIR and TGA, and the cure characteristics by rheological and DSC analysis. The mechanical properties were determined by stress strain tests and the morphology evaluated by MEV. The thermal degradation of the NR/PB compounds was assessed by their mechanical properties before and after thermal ageing at 70°C during 70 hours. The fatigue life was evaluated by tensile and compressive tests with cyclic loading. The results showed that both the size and amount of PB rubber powder have had influence on the NR/PB compound mechanical and cure properties and fatigue durability. NR compounds with huge amounts of rubber powder could be obtained with no appreciable effect on the properties values which are still acceptable for the technological application evaluated.
