Percursos do olhar na fotografia profissional e amadora : Campinas (1900-1915)

RESUMO

This text intends to review the approaches, exchanges and ruptures existing in the production of professional photographers, authors of reverential urban images arising from their utilization for printing postcards, documentation of public works and illustration of the city of Campinas 1900 Almachs, and of an amateur photographer, both photographers categories having operated in Campinas during 1900-1915 period. The study concentrates on two areas of analysis. It seeks to identify different languages, one of them typical of professional photography, which, upon using certam subjects, tales, standards and virtual tendencies for the sake of building up an official image of the city, is a consistent which the aspiration towards a cosmopolitan project, as supported by the Government and a portion of the local population, particularly those involved with the Republican project, and that the narra tive kind of the amateur photography, as represented by Austero Penteado s work, will be structured subject to the influence of the standards of the international photoclub movement and, on the order hand, as an attempt to recover values and situations threatened by the premises of modernity. At the same time, the comparative study off collections involved allows for a historical reconstitution of urban images, so that the influences and the interests which will be a crucial for building up the city s visual identity may be better understood
