RESUMO

Children that cross sexual stereotypes are eventually noticed as divergent in gender (caracteristic behavior related to the opposite sex). Such divergency is expressed by motor behavior, such as, the way they sit, speak, walk, play, etc. Therefore defining motor patterns that fit both boys and girls become unacceptable when we dont cosider the social influences of the gender roles of each society. This research aims to study the influence of gender stereotypes on the perception and evaluation of motor development of boys and girls, as well as the impact of cross motor development in some children according to physical education teachers about gender perception. It is characterized as descriptive-comparative and non probabilistic research. The amount of participants was 207 students, from which 114 were boys and 93 were girls, registered on the fifth grade on a public school from São Jose SC. In order to accomplish the proposed purpose two assessments were used: first Escala de Desenvolvimento Motor EDM (Rosa Neto) and later for gender identity, an assessment developed by the author, Entrevista de Identidade de Gênero. Besides this two assessment an informal observation was done. The main results were that either when we compare sex or when we compare gender, we dident find lot of motor differences. However, significant differences have been found, related to gender identity, mainly according to sportive preferences of these scholars. These results reinforce our beliefs that sexual stereotypes created and imposed by the society influence directty in the sportive choices and practices both at school environment or outside of it. There is still the possibility that the children suffer from a genetic or epigenetic predisposal.
