RESUMO

This dissertation reflects on the construction horizon of different types of narrative productions, in which are inserted Pau de Colher memories. This community arose between 1935 and 1938, in between the boundaries of Baixo MÃdio SÃo Francisco region. Pau de Colher became visible only when, during the repressive times called Estado Novo, its inhabitants were massacred by the military forces of Pernambuco, Bahia and Piauà states. Narratives intertwine, collide, interlace and reaffirm Pau de Colher as a meaningful happening in which its dimensions make possible several interpretations and tragically mark the scenery of its region. As an analysis proposal to understand the registers, it is adopted an interdisciplinary dialog that uses notions as cultural representations and discourse analysis contributions, which is part of the research methodological framework. Taking the experience of the popular religious movement that took place in countryside of Bahia state, faith and fight produce deep feelings and demand to look into contexts that reverberates in socio-economical, political and cultural conjectures which emerges in the different fragment registers: military short reports, newspapers, literature and intervieweesâ speeches. It is from the tracks opened through a wide range of registers that this study aims at approaching the aspects related to the dialogs among memory, narrative and history
