RESUMO

The experiment was carried out at Água Limpa Farm, Brasília University. It aimed to evaluate irrigation paralyzation effect on syncronism of the development of reproductive buds of two coffee tree cultivars raised in a high density organic system, and after cutting primary lateral branches and coffee tree top. It was used IAPAR 59 and Obatã cultivars with a plant density of 7,142 plants per hectare. Five water regimes applied under drip irrigation were: no irrigation, irrigation during all over the year, and 30 and 15 days before harvesting; stopping irrigation at harvest. Water content of non irrigated plots was monitored by using TDR and gravimetric methods. Tensiometers and Irrigas equipment were used in the others treatments. Soil water tension of 40 kPa was maintained. It was used a randomized complete block design for factor irrigation regime, with factor cultivar as a split plot on irrigation and factor position (sunrise and sunset) as a split plot on cultivar. Dependent variables analyzed were number of: lateral branches, flower buds, inflorescence, small seeds, and small seeds per inflorescence. The two cultivars had different flowering initiation and number of flowers per plant. The majority of variables studied showed increased performance of Obatã cultivar. Paralyzing irrigation treatments had better results than irrigated and irrigation all over the year round treatments.
