RESUMO

With the advent of new technology and new materials the man has constructed higher and flexible structures, however, more vulnerable to vibrations. Among the several techniques to prevent these vibrations, appears the passive control which is subdivided in some types of devices. The multiple tuned mass damper (MTMD) is one of them. It consists in a mass-spring-damper system tuned around the main system frequency. In this work the behavior of a 20-floors shear frame building, reduced to a single degree-of-freedom system by the superposition method, is studied taking into account the first mode shape. Initially, it is verified that the parameters suggested by the references for the non-interconnected MTMD are not efficient for the interconnected MTMD. As a result, a parametric study is conducted based on a Min. Max. numerical searching procedure in order to determine parameters that improve the interconnected MTMD efficiency for two, three, four and five masses and showing the equations that govern the system. These interconnected MTMD equations are found with a curves adjustment based on the minimum squared method and by using the SAS statistical program, v. 9.1.3.
