RESUMO

The central object of this research is the study of social use deaf people make of written language/Portuguese language in their interactions with new technologies. Our interest is thus to examine first of all if and how digital technologies can be tools for deaf people to take possession of written language/Portuguese language as well as the ways interactions among deaf people and listeners in the digital context come to be a helper resource in this possession taking. With this goal in view, we created and made available situations where enunciative-discursive practices could happen - by means both of a Website, Oficina de Roteiros [Workshop of Scripts) and tools for Communication (chat roam, e-mail, discussion list). Digital technologies are strong triggers as regards the inscription of ever broader social interactions; and by means of Computer-Mediated Communication (chat roam, e-mail, discussion list), (chat roam, e-mail, discussion list) they allow for a multiplicity of linguistic-discursive dynamics that make possible the use of language. Based on the enunciative-discursive approach of Bakhtin and his Circle, we consider new digital technologies to bring verbal interactions to the fere, inscribing deaf people and listeners, multi-Ianguage interlocutors, in a new space of social interaction. A qualitative analysis of the data is presented in two parts. In the first one, we reflect on the uses of the digital technologies and the quality of these uses and discus aspects related to the digital literacy of the participants, the interactions among deaf people themselves and deaf people/the listeners and subject-matters that took place in the studied digital context and. In the second part, our focus is the analysis on the written production of deaf people and seek to understand how digital technologies can involve deaf people and listeners in the process of taking possession of written language/Portuguese language. The analysis makes apparent that the interaction lived in the digital context can be an effective means for making deaf people and listeners effective interlocutors that share experiences, knowledge and social languages. The established relationships form the dialogical and ideological links needed for a multi-language meeting of statements, voices, intonations, subject-matters and points of view, aspects that create for deaf-people a new space for engage in social interactions
