Os interesses sociais e a concepção politica e ideologica dos trabalhadores rurais assentados do MST : estudo de caso na região de Rondonopolis-MT

RESUMO

The purpose of this paper is to analyse the sociopolitical behavior of the workers settled in the grass root communities ofthe Landless Rural Workers (MST) by identifying its sociocultural profile, its interests in the struggle, its expectations with relation to the MST, its political conceptions and idological principIes, the workers main divergencies of views and the divergencies from their leaders. Such a research has been a case study whose field research was carried out in the MST settlements nearby Rondonópolis-MT. The research has shown that Landless Workers fight and the fight of those already living in the settlements is motivated by the will of gaining access to the land. It is a way of saying no to the social differences and of saying yes to the integration of those people to society through settling them in the field. Rural workers, however, know that their leaders fight has a wider social and policial scope other than simply settling them in the field. When it comes to political issues, MST activists attribute great value to the direct democracy which is developed in the social movements. They also validate the corporate policy of the MST. They ve learned the importance of solidarity and the need for the empowerment of the peasant population. As for the ideological ground, some of the activists show a moderate trend whereas the others a more progressive one, but far from the revolutionary ofthe MST leaders. Because the social, political and ideological interests between the MST leaders and the settlers do not cope, frequent internal conflicts and disagreements are observed. The main fight of the settlers is against their social exc1usionand in behalf ofthe sociocultural identity, founded on familiar agriculture. Their fight is not because of political-ideological matters. Even so, in practice of their citizenship, within long duration time, these workers reconstruct their principIes and cultural virtues, and their political and ideological vision, favouring their emergence to new social and political citizens, carrying a new polical culture
