RESUMO

In the history of religion, the dance has not always been considered an element of expression of the sacred. The purpose of this research is to understand the importance of the sacred rituals of an ancient culture. The Bororo community is a native society found in Mato Grosso, Brazil, and was selected specifically to compose a study of case. For this purpose the study deals with general data about the life, the customs and the religiosity of this ethnic group. The survey will provide a short outlook on religion and on the sacred Bororos ritual and mainly on the description of these rituals and their respective forms of dance taking into consideration, also, the centrality of the body through the study of clothing, ornaments, paintings and other marks of provisory or permanent character
