O modelo de Harrod e a teoria do crescimento econômico no século XX

RESUMO

The present work studies the historical development of Roy F. Harrods model about the growth and economical cycle, that was one of the firsts efforts in the sense of building an economical theory truly dynamics. As a form of understanding the evolution of that specific field of the macroeconomics, we seek to compare the main models appeared starting from the works of Harrod, discussing their critics and different approaches following a chronological order. Firstly, were analyzed the revision of the Harrods model proposed by Tinbergen (1937), as well as the no-lineal approach of the cycle developed by Goodwin (1951). Soon afterwards, the study was centered in the model of Domar (1946), known by the way it approach the analysis and the equations proposed by the original model of Harrod. In this work the Domars model is studied in a separate way in relation to Harrods, in order to detach the specificities of each one, something impossible when those models are systematized as Harrod-Domar model. In another section, was discussed the proposal of Kaldor (1957) and his theoretical contributions when throwing light on the subject of the distribution of income in the economical system, as well as the growth model of Robert Solow (1956) formulated under the neoclassical inspiration. Finally some extensions developed by Harrod in the last book are presented. When, having contemplated criticis of the other authors to his theory, he proceeds to some rectifications of the original conception of the cycle and economical growth, also emphasizing his point of view. It is also discussed the main propositions of the author in terms of economic policies, as well as actions objecting the economical development.
