RESUMO

This work presents a linguistic and discursive analysis of a magazine for children, the magazine Veja Kid+, based on a point of view grounded on the theoretical and methodological precepts ofthe French Analysis of the Discourse (AD). The main objective is to investigate how the figure of the child is constructed in a magazine whose target is children, and the linguistic and discursive resources used by the publishers for this end. We seek the answer for these questions in the analysis of the language, the themes approached, investigating the several mechanisms of the construction of the image of the child. Discourse is considered as conceived by Maingueneau (1984), based on Foucault: "a dispersion of texts whose historic inscription mode allows to define as a space of enunciative regularities". In other words, to situate historically in a discursive place allows one to saying some things and not saying others because the rules impose restrictions to the act of saying. Preliminary analyses allowed us to put forward the following hypothesis: even though the magazine Veja Kid+ presents itself as innovative, it actually maintains a reduced view of the child because it assumes the limited intellectual ability of the public that it is written for. It is possible to prove this hypothesis by the simplified language used, by the very material form of the text, and by the reductive aspect of the treatment given to the subjects approached, whose discourses perpetuate culturally established point of views and current ideologies in spite ofthe existence of some social progress. Examples of phrases written by children and published in the sections of readers participation show that, probably, the magazine could believe more in the use of language. Infant subject-readers are able to wordplay with the language and its possible meanings. The analysis of the "social voices" seen in the discourses of the magazine Veja Kid+ makes possible to realize a socially constructed view of the child that is still prevalent in society nowadays. We performed the work of reconstitution of this image based on the analysis of the language and the discursive and ideological processes developed over the linguistic basis (cf Courtine: 1981). We sought the relation (or the conflict) between heterogeneous images: the view of the child from the ideal of consumption; from his/her supposed interests, from language.
