RESUMO
Its through "old articles" published in a proletarian newspaper that one can point out both the development as well as the cultural evolution of a particular society. In block letters we can notice the emotions and reactions based on a press created from one s dreams, idealisms and urge to be heard. In the edited and published articles in the "O GRAPHICO" newspaper, the typographers from Rio de Janeiro -between 1916 and 1919- express their opinions when it comes to the transformations and existing problems of their town (in addition to facts which happened in their countries and overseas). Several points of view of everyday life served as basis to the creation of a connection between distinct social ranks, at a time each of these ranks was aware of the problems men were going through and how they managed to overcome them. Learning how to read and write made them see the world in a different light. Their views along with others -reflecting books and articles they read, built an unusual perception of their environment. Nevertheless it s important to make it clear that the proletarian press doesn t have a definite explanation about workers in Brazil. However it holds a heavy subjectivity of these so-called workmen
