RESUMO

The film criticism in the press medium (journals, magazines and internet sites) is passing through a crisis. The purpose of this project is to make an historical lecture of Pernambucoâs film criticism along the Twentieth Century, trying to identify how the cultural logic of the postmodernity threw it into crisis. Itâs presumed that the reason of the criticism crisis is not located only in Pernambuco; the local criticism just gleamed a global slump of criticism. The culture industry, the tension between highbrow and lowbrow culture, the rise of youth as an hegemonic category on postmodern consumerismâs map, the pop culture; all those factors help to consolidate the crisis, which is materialized in the standardization of form and content of the film criticism. The cyberspace will be seen as both, the last stage of the standardization of criticism, and the technological structure that makes possible the reconstruction of the public sphere. That should give back criticism its original function: cultural resistance. To realize this analysis, I build an historical view of the intersection between criticism, film and jounalism. Classic and contemporary critical theory, postmodern theories, journalism, cyberspace and film studies provide the theoretical frame of this work
