O climatério na contemporaneidade / The climacteric in contemporaneity

RESUMO

The last 50 years characterized for technological advances in medicine, pharmacology and cosmetology as a consequence of the development of techno-science. Women, on their turn, were protagonists of status change and important social conquest. Further it was required to investigate, in this new scenery, how they would be being affected by living in the climacteric. Based on that, it was conducted to the objectives of this dissertation: 1st to verify if the narcissistic, ephemera and transitory aspects of contemporaneity affect women in the climacteric. 2nd to verify which factors help them in the climacteric. On methodological view, it was used the qualitative method, in a case study form associated with instruments uses: Short Form 36 Health Survey Questionnaire (SF-36) and a Menopause Rating Scale (MRS). This methodological combination had the purpose to consider the multidisciplinary and complexity of this theme. As gathering criteria it was used a factorial analysis through multiple correspondences and cluster analysis by hierarchic classification, giving 3 distinct groups: the women who cry, the women in development and the home queen. The analysis of the results had as theoretical reference the presupposed theory of psychoanalysis which in the construction of a meaning network, heading to the proposed objectives. As a result, it was concluded that the multi-determination of this phase of life becomes even more complex in contemporaneity, making possible the contemporaneous factor related to the narcissism, transitoriness and ephemerality affect the women who live in the climacteric phase. The way it affects will depend on psychic capital that each woman built during her life, may raising two forms: 1st negatively through the exacerbation of climacteric symptomatology, worse quality of life and the production of psychosomatic symptomatology; 2nd positively through the promotion of challenges which will reverse into creative learning and development. Concerning the second objective, the three main factors which help the women in the climacteric, were reported by the participants as: positive attitudes towards life, importance of the family while living source and support and investments in quality of life
