RESUMO
Various authors met gene ras mutation in MM patients, mainly at N- and K-ras. The incidence is variable, but a median result is 30-40% at presentation, and until 70% in cases of relapse. The aim of this study was the determination of the frequency of mutation of the hot-spots codons 12,13 and 61 N-ras proto-oncogene. We studied the bone marrow DNAfrom 44 patients with multiple myeloma. We used DNA sequencing methodology for identification of mutations at N-ras gene. The positive-control was a patient with mutation at codons 12 and 13 of N-ras gene from a previous investigation in our laboratory. We didn t find oncogenic mutational alterations. The result suggests that the mutations of N-ras gene are not fundamental importance for pathogenesis of multiple myeloma in the Brazilian population avalied
