RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to verify the linear teeth movement in maxillary denture made with Clássico heat -cured acrylic resin, polymerized in water at 74°C for 9 hours, 12 hours after the detinitive flask closure, and influenced by pressing (conventional and RS) and deflasking (water cooling and water-cooling plus bench for 3 hours). Forty stone casts-wax plate base with teeth were randomly assigned in 4 groups of 10 elements and included in metallic frasks by routine technique, in order to receive the following experimental treatments: Group 1- conventional pressure, polymerization in water at 74°C for 9 hours, starting 12 hours after the detinitive pressure and deflasking after water-cooling. Group 2- conventional pressure, polymerization in water at 74°C for 9 hours, starting 12 hours after the definitive pressure and deflasking after water-cooling and bench for 3 hours. Group 3- RS pressure, polymerization in water at 74°C for 9 hours, starting 12 hours after the definitive pressure and deflasking after water-cooling. Group 4- RS pressure, polymerization in water at 74°C for 9 hours, starting 12 hours after the detinitive pressure and deflasking after water-cooling and bench for 3 hours. The I-I, PM-PM, M-M, RI-RM and LI-LM distances were determined before and after base polymerization, with a linear comparator microscope (Olympus), with tolerance of 0.0005 mm. The data submitted to ANOV A and Turkey s test at 5% of significance leveI showed that: a) Polymerization factor: there was no statistically significant difference in the lI, PM-PM and M-M distances in all interactions. The same was showed in the RI-RM and LI-LM distances in the conventional pressure with deflasking after water-cooling, and in the RS pressure with deflasking after watercooling plus bench for 3 hours. There was statistically significant difference in the RI-RM and LI-LM distance values in the conventional pressure with deflasking afier water-cooling plus bench for 3 hours, and in the RS pressure with deflasking afier water-cooling. b) Pressure factor: the I-I, PM-PM, M-M distances was no statistically significant difference in alI interactions. The same occurred in the RI-RM and LI-LM distances before and afier poIymerization with deflasking afier water-cooIing, and before poIymerization with deflasking afier water-cooIing pIus bench for 3 hours. There was statisticaUy significant difference in the RI-RM and LI-LM distances afier poIymerization with deflasking afier water-cooling pIus bench for 3 hours. c) Deflasking factor: The I-I, PM-PM, M-M, RI-RM and LI-LM distances were no statisticalIy significant difference in alI interactions
