RESUMO

Abstract This paper aims to explore the feasibility of the concept Social Resilience in a transnational context as the Mexican Migration to the United States. Our analysis focuses specifically on the dynamics experienced by Guanajuato migrant families in the XXI Century, and it will highlight the processes of adaptation and transformation to the changing environment defined as the US immigration system. The goal of the paper is to explain how, within a historical -long-term- process, migrant persons and their families transform and adjust their life and local space into a transnational one. We conclude by considering the importance of studying the migratory dynamics within a transnational social resilience perspective from individual and family level. We use exploratory field-work done in Apaseo el Alto, Guanajuato, as case study, which, we believe, opens an interesting research agenda in the future.
