RESUMO

This research explores the identities of two groups of angolan immigrants in Pará: those who came during the 70s running away from the civil war and those who immigrated during the 80s and the 90s to study in the local universities. We discuss the way in which those immigrants have dealt with their memories and remembrances to build new, dynamical relations with the past and with the silence/oblivion. Taking into account narratives and reports, music and poetry, photos and rhythms elements that express meaningful parts of the social reality we study , we seek to understand, through the methodology of oral history, how the diasporical movement has contributed to build and rebuild the identities of those immigrants. Therefore, we will dialogue with the interpretations and reinterpretations of the their own life experiences before and after the migrational process. Our discussions involve their dynamics of identity, diaspora, family relations and everyday life.
