RESUMO

The executive decision making is the main challenge of managers in modern enterprises. Decisions are extremely critical activities in organizations that live in permanent process of mutation. Decision should be made in a short period of time because of the dynamic of the world. Decision-makers need to have more experience, information and methodology than intuition. The cost of a wrong estrategic decision is not mensurable, which even could represent the bankruptcy of a big organization. Decision-makers need qualified information to decide, derived from legacy systems, from different sources of information, internal and/or external to the organization, archived in conventional files, in data bases of differents DBMS, or obtained from sites on the Web. This work has the objective of develop and implant a methodology of executive decision making, supported by a information system MeGIQ (Metodologia de GeraÃÃo de InformaÃÃes de Qualidade para Apoio à Tomada de DecisÃo Executiva), which keeps a âknowledge baseâ about successful decisions, allowing decision-makers to re-use successful decisions. Information is acquired from OLAP and data mining techniques applied over a decision support data mart, used in parallel with multicriterial decision models, possibiliting the contribution of different decisionmakers, with experience about the problem or not, employers or non employers of the organization, enhancing the probability of a successful decision
