RESUMO

This dissertation aims to identify and understand the effects of knowledge generated by studies of information management on promoting improvements on the management of Jorge Valente Hospital, of a general nature, private and medium-sized. The work is grounded on a theoretical framework based on information management and organizational context related to the concept of a hospital as a integral component of the health system, combined with an applied field research, where the problem was treated as a exploratory study-of-case, with a qualitative and analytical approach of the content. The adopted research instrument is based on Rezende (2002), under his approval, which proposes four constructs: information systems, information technology, human resources and organizational context. Interviews were conducted by following the constructs and responses were categorized in Bardins theme (1977). As a conclusion term, this study reinforces the need for management information appliances and brings contributions to the discussions that have already been carried out considering the theoretical field of a hospital as a wealth system component. It also shows that the use of qualitative strategies can contribute to the progress being made in the field of management hospital. In addition, it offers an overview of properly classified information that enable a understanding of the effects of knowledge generated by studies of information management in the promotion of improvements in hospital management In favor of further investigation and analysis on the hospital information management subject, several future work have been suggested.
