RESUMO

This dissertation discusses the homoerotism in the work Berkeley em Bellagio, by the Brazilian writer João Gilberto Noll, highlighting its importance to the understanding of the authors aesthetic proposal and the problems that it poses to the literary history and, more specifically, to the Brazilian literary history. For this reason, the analysis aims at showing how the affectionate and sexual meetings between men reorganize or, as some may want, disorganize the traditional forms of sociability, politics and identity, deconstructing the dominant paradigms of literary text interpretation, as well the parameters of canonization. The narrative challenges the official ways of reading the literary text, revealing the ideology of literary conceptions that impose limits to the representation of the homoerotic experience.
