RESUMO

The contemporary society, also named Liquid Modernity, as a result of its volability and conventions, as well as the fast changes in its paradigms, is undergoing marked shifts in the monitoring, thinking and feeling processes. The accelerated technological and cultural development stems a new phase of capitalism posing new challenges for the mankind at the begin of this century. State, culture, education and the labor practices are influenced by the way of viewing the world. Thus an adaptation to this new life style is a must. In this decentralized and reflexive society, autonomy becomes fundamental. Autonomy has already become a differential in the labor environment. The autonomous individual is less dependent on the great amount of information generated and spread out criteriousless. Thus, he becomes able to understand the world in a more sensible way. Concerning education, its role is to allow the development of this situation so that the globalized mankind can both meet the market demands as well as live as world citizens. Literary reading is acknowleged as a stage for the acquisition of autonomy, since the dialogic reading of a literary work leads the reader to contact various realities, such as the daily living which is seldom critically understood due to the excessive information sources, often conditioned and alienated to a specific end. The literary work pictures the world itself, and new perceptions are made possible. The words of a literary text are so meaningful that they outshine the dictionaries. The real context is found in life. To reach literary autonomy is a must. The reader and the text have a dialogue, not only with words but also with perceptions and feelings of the real world to which they belong. This is the purpose of this paper. It aims at showing, through the dialogic reading, through the literary and appraising of the world, the ways and possibilities that the reader has to claim his own expression and become more autonomous. To do so, reflexions shall approach issues such as the dialogic reading, the mediation and political functions of the scholar, the education as related to the hypertext, the Liquid Modernity and its monological institutions, as well as the bases which support the dialogical reading of a literary work.
