RESUMO

The present study introduces Lebanon from the point of view of the religious communities and the political system resulted from the National Pact in 1943. There has been centuries of mutual living between peoples of different religions and regions which allowed the development of solid basis so that in the momentum of Lebanon independence. There would be a very peculiar format when compared with other regimes in the Middle East or even others than that system. By analyzing the Lebanese political history until the beginning of the 70s, this work goes through matters which may still be current and costfull for all: the Arab-Israeli Conflict, the Arabism, Islamism, the growth of new organizations and regimes in the Middle East, always with Lebanon as the focus in the analysis.
