RESUMO

This work presents experimental results for the thermodynamic equilibrium of activated carbon C 119 (Carbomafra) and methanol and calculated experimental parameters for three mathematical models, DUBININ-ASTAKHOV, RIOS and Linearized Potential. This work also describes the stages of construction, assembly and instrumentation of the equipment. The preparation of samples and procedures to obtain the parameters for mathematical models are also considered. The experiments were carried out under the conditions of temperature from 10 to 130 °C, pressure from IS to 400 mbar and the amount of methanol adsorbed ranged from 20 to 250gmethanol / kgactivated-carb in a cell whith 3 kg of carbon activated. The following conclusions were obtained: a. The DUBININ-ASTAKHOV model was inadequate for the couple studied. b. The RIOS and Linearized Potential models could be adjusted satisfactorily to the pair studied (average error of 12%. The parameters "D" and "Wo" of the DUBININ-ASTAKHOV model depend on the temperature. d. The average error reduced to 4 % for the RIOS and Linearized Potential models employing a second order equation as a model to express the isosthere.
