RESUMO

Aiming to identify adoption of prevention actions against sexually transmissible diseases and acquired immune deficiency syndrome, on sexual practice of adolescents from public schools Recife city, Pernambuco, Brazil, a descriptive, transversal study with qualiquantitative boarding was conducted, including 1.235 students of Basic II or Medium Schoolarship of public schools, aging from 14 to 19 years old, who were interested in participating by answering the half-structuralized questionnaire, composed by closed and opened questions. Sample size was estimated by Sample X software as 1163 students. Sampling was stratified, randomized by schools localization and size, at North and South city Regions. The variables investigated were: prevention of STD/AIDS, sexual life, as well as oral and anal sex. Data were analyzed by SPSS software version 13.0, using Pearson Chisquare and exact Fisher tests, at significance level of 0.05. Sexual practices predominantly began from 13 to 16 years old, with condom use, and four or more partners, associating vaginal sex to oral sex, practiced sometimes, and, more rarely, to anal intercourse, most often at 13 to 16 years old, rating rarely or sometimes. About 85% of adolescents heard about STD, but only 15.1% enunciated correct concept on STD. The majority of adolescents declared to have been instructed by teachers, about STD/AIDS and safe sex, but, by friends, on safe sex, and by health professionals, on STD/AIDS. Heterosexual orientation was the most frequent behavior, although homossexuality, beginning of precocious sexual life and four or more partners were more frequent among boys; as well as condom use and only partner, among girls. Aging from 17 to 19 years old was characterized by: more frequent sexual life beginning, lesser condom use and greater number of partners, different from the 14 to 16 years old group. Oral and anal sex intercourse was more frequent among boys, aging from 13 to 16 years, rating sometimes, and without oral ejaculation. Conclusion: The education for the sexual life must be directed more to change behaviors than to simply give informations.transmissible diseases and AIDS.
