RESUMO

The Health National Fundation (FUNASA), a governmental agency, makes agreements with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO), in order to perform complementary actions related to Brazilian native Indians health. In the state of Mato Grosso do Sul its partner is the Evangelical Mission Caiuá, a NGO. The objective of this work is to describe the use of the federal resources by the NGO in the implementation of the Program Indians Family Health, describing financial, operational and some epidemiological indicators of womens health status in the villages of Jaguapirú and Bororó, during the period 1999-2004. We conducted a descriptive, quantitative, retrospective study. Collection of secondary data took place in the Regional polo of Aboriginal Health Services and at the NGOs office. The value of the accords increased of U$ 1.262.695,56 for U$ 5.805.479,92, mostly spent with medicines, equipment and materials had varied in the period. The element expenditure that has its value increased in 283% is Human resources (wages and labor social assistance taxes), between 2000 and 2004. The number of doctors, dentists, nutritionist and nurse assistants had a 100% increase; number of nurses increased 66% and communitarian health agents, 600%. Natality and fertility rates increased 39% and 55% in the two villages, respectively. The demographic growth was 22%; 51% of the population are women. There was no maternal deaths between 2002 and 2004. The antenatal control increased 3.5 and 6 times in the two villages, respectively; abortion number decreased. The collection of colpocitological specimens began in 2003, and increased 4 times and 2,5 among both villages women, respectively; it resulted in diagnosis of different stages of uterine cervix neoplasia. Conclusion: we conclude that the increase of investments and staff resulted in improvements in health of aboriginal women.
