RESUMO

The stability of rotating machines is strongly related to the type of coupling between the rotating and stationary parts. The bearings are one of the most important stationary part for defining the operational stability range of such a kind of machines. The goal of this research work is to study a new type of hydrid lubrication, where the oil is electro nically injected into the bearing gap. The feasibility of infiuencing the static behaviour of hydrodynamic forces by means of such oil injection is investigated. The oil injection into the bearing gap is made by two mechanisms of lubrication: the conventional hydrodynamic lubrication and through orifices distributed along the bearing surface (active lubrication in the radial direction). By controlling the pressure of the oil injection, it is possible to get large variations in the active hydrodynamic forces, that can be useful for reducing vibrations in rotating machines. The mathematical model for this special kind of lubrication is developed. The so called modified Reynolds equation is achieved for describing the pressure distribution along the bearing surface. Afterwards the dynamic coefficients of the bearing are determined by means of the perturbation method around the equilibrium position of the rotor-bearing system. A test rig, which was designed in another research [6], and had the financial support of FAPESP, was used to investigate the experimental behaviour of hybrid tilting-pad jour nal bearings. In this work an identification procedure is also implemented for obtainning its damping and stiffness coefficients. Theoretical and experimental results regarding to such coefficients are compared. It can be concluded that it is possible to change stiffness properties of bearings while hybridly lubricated. Related to damping properties fur ther theoretical investigations should be carried out in order to explain the discrepancies between theory and experimento
