RESUMO

The hyperbaric index area (HIA), a new methodology for ABPM analysis, was tested for its relationship to cardiac alterations, particularly with left ventricular mass index (LVMI). Calculation was based on pre-defined pressure limits for ABPM periods of sleep and activity, considering the exceeding area during the time of exam as the hyperbaric index. It was observed a statistically significant linear relation between HIA and LVMI. It was also observed a greater relation for the sleep HIA, both systolic and diastolic with changes in LVMI
