RESUMO

The goal of this text is to provide an analysis of the discussion made by Hannah Arendt about the agostinian liberum arbitrium. Arendt shows a distinction between the terms freedom and free will enlightened by an understanding of how human action happens in public space, in the common dwelling of men. In a certain historic period, the author affirms that there was an equation between the terms freedom and free will, and that such equation would have started a process of misunderstanding of mens action in the public space and politic space. The core of the problem seams to be found on free will itself, a kind of faculty that would produce a rupture in our way of action, a situation that would occur because of the on nature of free will and such elements would have changed the comprehension of a freedom thought according to the ancient philosophers. Therefore, our goal is a discussion on this rupture that free will would have, as is the presentation of a freedom that comes from free will.
