The displacement about existence of the "other" in the societies, maximized by the media, may to provoke rupture or change of meaning in the discourses. Then, this dissertation presents the objectives of: a) to analyze the discourse of/about prostitute/prostitution, to observe the tension between FDs (discursive formations) component of this discourse; b) to analyze the relations between FDs, meanings, subjects in the space where the discourse are observed to verify possible displacement of meaning in order to check if discursive event "program girl" occurs. This research was based on the French perspective of Discourse Analysis that articulates language, history and ideology in the production of the meaning. The corpus was composed of published texts in the period of 1996-2007: discourses transmitted by national media, in the book: O doce veneno do escorpiao, in several magazines, such as: Metropole, Caros Amigos, Isto e, Veja, Epoca, Nova and in standard Portuguese dictionaries. The methodology understood the following stages: a) collection of discourses in the mentioned supports; b) clipping of enunciated declared important to the specificities of the study; c) composition of a database with 133 statements; d) grouping of 104 of these statements in paraphrastics sequences; e) analysis of the conections among FDs meanings and its filiations in memory nets. In the first chapter, the configuration of the research was done in object terms (consideration about the corpus), theory terms (to map the concepts of the of the French Discourse Analysis theoretical base of the research) and of history term (to describe the prostitution in the Ocidente, particulary in Brazil); which is necessary to mapping the conditions of production of the discourse. In the second chapter, the stud covered the analysis of 51 statements, which emerged in society, to verify the contribution of the media in the legitimation of FDs restored in the discourse of/about prostitute/prostitution. In the third chapter, some references related to "prostitution" were taken from Portuguese dictionaries to analyse the expression "garota de programa" and, after that the sequences of paraphrases were investigated, to confirm if it constitutes as discursivo event. It was observed that different FDs coexist: from the work, configured in CBO (Occupations Brazilian Classification)family 5198; FD from the inclusion and the Law, with the creation of associations, nets, projects; FD derived post modern capitalist discourse. Because of it, there was the necessity of giving another meaning to prostitution s discourse though different terminologies to reference the same object. The discursive confrontation to beginning of the event "garota de programa", worked for the media, was initiated before, by means of retaken formularizations. Its opacity inscribed it in other denominations, in paraphrastics statements that send to the statement "garota de programa", but that it do not construct the same meaning. The discursive production in the media is not a consequence of that it happens in the public space, but as constructed universe, it has linguistic-discursive strategies marked by assignments for the discriminate some subjects and at the same time appreciate others. In this case, affirmation of "garota de programa" happens to show a "new product in the "market" to satisfy the demanding public due to threat of deseases as DST and specially AIDS.
