Fatores associados a prevalencia de sintomas urinarios e genitais em mulheres climatericas

RESUMO

The estimation about the proportion of women carrying genitourinary symptoms varies from.11 to 50% in different researches donein distinct population. The climacteric is considered an aggravating factor of these disturbances. Supported on insuficient data basically in national levei, about the prevalence of ufinary and genital disturbances in climaterical and postmenopausal women, the objetives of this study were to investigate the prevalence of these symptoms as well as the associated factors .to the major prevalence of genital and urinary disturbances. Through a detailed questionary, it was interviewed 229 women who was attended at the Menopause Clinic of State University of Campinas, observing age, race, marital status, gynecological and obstetrics ntecedents, hormonal contraceptive use, hormonal replacement therapy, previou urinary incontinence surgery, urinary tract i nfection , body mass index, smoking, cronic co~gth, diabetes, time since last menstrual period, quimiotherapy and radiotherapy, genital prolapse, vaginal atrophy, ce rvi cal mucus and Schiller test. The statistic analysis were performed by Qui Square, Fisher s Exact Test and Multiple Analysis. The prevalence of urinary symptoms summened 42,8%, and the most frequent symptom presented was the urinary incontinence, and 54,1% of the women had genital complaints and vaginal dryness was the most frequent one. The factors which were associated to urinary complaints, by bivariad analysis, were the number of pregnancies and genital prolapse while having a partner, diabetes, previous urinary incontinence surgery, recurrent urinary infection and the minor genital atrophy were associated to genital complaints prevalence. The conclusions of this study were: the factors associated to a prevalence of genital and urinary complaints are distinct and they deserve a different approach in a propaedeutic and therapeutic point ofview
