RESUMO

Studies with the aim of investigating new analyticaI possibilities for the determination of heavy metals, using fiber-optic chemicaI sensors and immobiIized dithizone, are described in the present work. InitiaIly, the effect of pH on the formation of the dithizonates of zinc(II), Iead(II) and cadmium(II) was studied. Based on this study, it was possible to obtain the vaIues of the conditional stability constants for the immobilized complexes. With the values of stability constants, it was possible to predict, theoretically, the pH and concentration range where the optode should work reversibly. The theoretical prediction was confirmed experimentally. The analytical curve yieIded a correIation coefficient of 0,996. The average deviation of measurements was 0,02 normalized reflectance. Determination of Hg(II) have good selective in acid medium ( 0.5 mol/L suIfuric acid ). Thus, it was deveIop an optical sensor of renewable phase for the determination of Hg(II). Another part of this work was to verify the possibility for the simuItaneous reflectometric determination of heavy metaIs, based on the study of the effect of pH.
