RESUMO

In the face of popularization of the weight training, not only as a sport training but also as a life quality promoter to the human being, the need of exercises has increased, particularly on the biomechanical aspects, searching for a behavior knowledge of locomotor system when submitted to a mechanical resistence. In this sense, the electromyography has been an efficient analysis method of muscle action, contributing to the diagnosis and attendance of the training results or rehabilitation. Considering this reality and the shortage of literature, the objective of the present study was to anylize electromyographically the muscles pectoralis major sternal portion (PMS), pectoralis major clavicular portion (PMC), deltoideous anterior portion (DA) and triceps brachii long head (TBl), during the development of the exercises of bench press (BP), closed bench press (CBP), dumbell flys (DF) and dumbell bunch press (DBP). Eleven individuais (males) trained in weight training participated in the study. A biological sign acquisition module (brand lynx) , an A/D converse and a software for a sign processing aquisition were used. To identity the beginning and the end of the movement and to make evident the load elevation phase, a film machine and a photo resistive system wich sin.cronized the begining of the movement with the begining of the electromyographically recorder collection were used. The results were analysed by Fredmann and Wilcoxon text ( p 0 . 0,5) and the following could be concluded : 1) in the barbell exercises, particularly in the bench press, PMS PMC muscles are those that present higher activity: in these exercises ali the muscles present similar activity, standing out the TBl in the CBP; ín the dumbell exercíses, particularly the DBP, the PMS, PMC and DA muscles are those present higher activity: in these exercises ali the muscles present similar activity, stending on the DA in the flying.
