RESUMO

In the last decades, with the technological development in all knowledge areas, the civil construction industry received a great impetus. The precision in the projects designs and execution and/or rebuilding process has turned into a fundamental characteristic in order to achieve success in using metallic structures, as well as the rationalization in the processes of planning through the use of modular building. As an attempt to improve the building processes, building companies started to steer clear of waste and improvisation, looking for a global management of the enterprise, taking advantage of the technological development and of quality computer programs. In that sense, the compatibleness of designs and further information about the products offered by the market for their better adequacy and use acquire more importance throughout the process. This way, the planning and the standardization of procedures associated with the technological development of products give birth to what can be named industrialized building. Focusing on this, the use of metallic components in the rebuilding and/or restoration of conventional buildings (antiques) need also to profit from the industrialized building. Studies and analysis of the intervention in antique buildings are being done with the use of stiffeners with metallic structural components in wood components. Through a numerical approach using the finite elements method, the performance of an intervention using metallic stiffeners in pieces of wood is appraised in a case study. The numerical approach is undertaken via software ANSYS 9.0 in a compound simple beam (wood and steel) with uniformly distributed loading. The results were thought to be satisfactory, with an efficiency of approximately 36% to 39%, and match with the standards of profiles and plates found in the national market. The rebuilding of wooden structures with metallic pieces is very advantageous, once they have practically no loss, having a larger accuracy and the building process is considerably fast, leaving the work environment cleaner.
