RESUMO
Populations of T. haemastoma (Linnaeus, 1767) from several loealities along the northern eoast of the State of São Paulo and from the bay of Santos have been studied. A system of eategorization of the different morphs has been initially ereated, based in some shell eharaeteristies whieh allowed the onstatation of at least sixteen different phenotypes in the speeies.fourteen have been deteeted, in the totality of the possible,examined Out of the sixteen phenotypes theoretieally animaIs, thus eonfirming the high polymorphism of 50 often referred to in previous papers. the speeies, The different morphs have been grouped aeeording to their greater or lesser similarity in three sets, eorresponding to the extreme and intermediary types of the variation. ...
