RESUMO

This work has the target to analyse the touristic potential of Ita, a municipality located in the western of Santa Catarina State, with the social-spacial transformations due to the building of the hydroeletric facility, trying to present alternatives to its economical development. For the research success it was essential to return to the urban cell origins and Itás evolution, the towns realocation and as well as to the facilitys construction history that uses Uruguay River potentiality. In the research, tourism is understood as one of the municipalitys development branch, so that it was necessary to focus this activitys role in the sociol-economical development and its worries to become sustainable and gives benefits to the population. The diagnosis presented is based on works about the municipalitys issues and studies alike. From this analysis, it was tryed to elaborate an interventional proposal to the local turistic development.
