RESUMO

The objective of this study was to evaluate quantitatively the fluorescence intensity of resin composites, with different opacites and translucencies, and to determine the chages in fluorescence after accelerated agung, using human enamel and dentin as controls. Six microhybrid and nanofilled composites, with three different shades each were tested. Tem sound human incisors were used to obtain aenamel and dentin specimens separately. Fluorescence measurements were obtained with a fluorescence spectrophotometer before (baseline) and after acceleratd aging at 150kJ energy for 120 hours. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Games-Howell multiple cpmparison tests were performed at a significance level of 0.05. student t-test was also used for comparison before and after aging. At baseline, all ashades of Charisma and opallis, As well as Esthet-X dentin shade and Vit-escence enamel and translucent shades, were not statistically different from dentin (p<0.050. after accelerated aging, all the shades of 4 Seansons and the enamel and translucent shades of Esthet-X showed fluorescence intensities statistically similar to that of aged dentin (p<0.05). All the materials, with the exception of human enamel and Filtk Supreme XT translucent, demonstrated significant reduction in fkuorescence sfter aging (p<0.05). Accelerated aging affected negatively the fluorescence in most of the evaluated Composites.
