RESUMO

The typical vegetation in landscape within the domain of cerrado consists of Cerrado on the well-drained interfluves with gallery forests following the watercourses. In Minas Gerais the Domain of the Cerrados is located in the west central part, occupying about 57% of the territorial extension of the state, where its vegetation decreased in a drastic way, existing extensive areas only in the north of Minas Gerais, particularly, in the basins of São Francisco e Jequitinhonha rivers. Therefore the present study has the general objective of contributing with floristic, structure and diversity of the woody component of two distinct phytophysiognomic in the Domain of Cerrados in the north region of Minas Gerais State as well as to compare the two main criteria of inclusion used for the study of the woody stratum of Cerrado. As sample it was used the method of parcels (plot), sampling one hectare in the Cerrado (a block of 50 x 200 m) and half a hectare in gallery forest (a block of 50 x 100 m) both divided into unities of neibouring samples of 10 x 10 m and 20 x 50 m. For the Gallery Forest it was used the CAP (circumference at breast level) as criterion of inclusion and for the Cerrado two criterion were compared, CAS (circumference at ground level) and CAC (circumference at shin level) in the same sample. The attribuites of the community used are: richness ( number of species by area), index of diversity (Shannon-Weaver) and phytosociological parameter. To generate an interval of confidence in the index of diversity it was used the estimate of Jackknife and to test if the diversity of two populations is equal it was used the test t of Hutcheson. The density and dominance in Cerrado between the criteria CAS and CAC were tested by the test t-in pairs or test t of dependent sample. 87 and 47 species were found in Cerrado by the criterion of CAS and CAC respectively and 102species in the Gallery Forest. The index of diversity of Shannon Weaver was 3,22 and 2,84 nats.ind-1 in Cerrado by the criterion of CAS and CAC respectively and 3,94 nats.ind-1 in the Gallery Forest.
