RESUMO

The water distribution pattern is one of the most important sprinkIer caractheristics. This knowledge is necessary to develop researches, models, quality control and irrigation system designoTrying to obtain an automatized data collection, it was made tests with load cells to analyse their possible use as a water volume sensor applyed in sprinkIer tests. lt was used two load cells ofO.5 and 1.0 Kgfnominal capacity, a data acquisition system, formed by a XT 12 bits microcomputer, an analog-to-digital (A/D) converted board, and the AQDADOS program for the system management. The collector-transducer system was formaed by the load cell and the collectors. A test calibration for the cells was conduct. Other tests were made such as: response linearity, water satbilization in the collector and hysteresis. All these calibrations showed correlation in 100%. The stabilization of the water reading for both cells represented no significativetime when compared to the sample time and small collisions (impact) on the collector didn t affect the average reading. The cell s behavior was similar for hysteresis. The cells showed better precision than the manual reading of the water leveI collected. The results showed that the use of 0.5 and 1.OKgf load cells in the automatization of sprinklers tests is feasible
