RESUMO

This study proposes to elaborate the psychographics profile of the visitors of Parque Estadual de Itaúnas, Espirito Santo, Brasil, and esteem the economic value of the recreative use of the Park using a psychographics approach of the Travel Cost Method (TCM). The results had shown that the great majority of the visitors belong to the near-alocentric psychographic profile, what suggests that the destination meets in stage of exponential growth in the tourism area life cycle of evolution. Demands for differentiated transformations between the individuals of the used psychographics profiles in the research had still been proven. The alocentrics and near-alocentrics tourists demands for a conserved environment, while the other profiles demand greater transformations. PEI receives currently about 215.237 visits per year. The annual benefits generated to the universe of visitors had been esteem in R$ 32.758.992,03 and the economic value of the recreative utility of the Park is about R$ 116.010.963,30 per year. The results suggest to be possible the management, not only the number of visitors, but still, of the different demands for improvements. That is, conscientiously to intervene with the rhythm and typology of the local transformations through alterations in the demand. However, the characteristics of the displacements tourist destinations motivated by the visitation the parks must be boarded of specific form better to contribute for the environment management. Thus, accomplishment of directed studies sends regards it to elaborate the specific psychographics profile of the brasilian National Parks visitors, including, behaviour attributes, in order better to subsidize the management of these units and its areas of influence.
