RESUMO

Since there is a globalized and competitive commodities market, a study of mining projects economic evaluation must be done criteriously, assuring to the investors, capital application more reliable and profitable for an investment opportunity chosen. Through economic evaluation technique or economic indexes is possible to evaluate the return of an investment. It is a dynamic study, inasmuch as variables of a project change continually. Before limited resources, one must choose the alternative that supplies the best remuneration for the invested capital, because there is always an opportunity cost relative to each investment opportunity. This paper, through an in-dept research, intend to establish the fundamentals guidelines for a study of mining projects economic evaluation, reporting the necessaries elements for the calculation of the economic indexes, as well as general aspects of sensitivity analysis and risk analysis, which are relevant in decision making concerning to capital investment project. Besides, it gives an overview of the unique characteristics of the mining industry.
