RESUMO

The disordered territorial occupation and the increase of urbanizations, as well as the increased water demand, has been turning the water uses a tangle of conflicts, day after day. The solutions to solve these conflicts are not always simple or easy. The institutionalization of the rights permit methodology as a process of water management aims the rational water use, and the knowledge of the space distribution of water uses is important for watershed environment diagnosis. The space distribution allows to evaluate the human interference. The aim of this work was to diagnosis the different users, types of uses and purpose of the water use in Rio Piranga watershed DO1, Minas Gerais state, by the ordinances of water rights permit of Instituto Mineiro de Gestão das Águas (IGAM) and Agência Nacional das Águas (ANA). The data were refined, processed and georeferenced, and showed that the use of the water use is predominant for supply human and industrial use, 43% and 34%, respectively. It was observed 73.78% of all rights permit of water uses are superficial and 26.22% are underground. The irrigation represented very low values. The watershed part that shows the highest volume exploited is the Carmo River region where over 30% of the rights permits water uses are unavailable.
