RESUMO

Although the significant increases in cancer cure indices, the term cancer still causes impact in our lives. Many studies and the practice observation of the chilhood cancer problematic allow us to affirm that neoplasics illnesses and the leukemia, in particular, can affect negatively the general course of development of the affected children. Considering that the ideal development of the psycomotor, cognitive, affective and social aspects take to a good life quality, the present study had as main objective to investigate motor performance and life quality of leukemia children in treatment. The study is exploratory, characterized as co relational descriptive, with transversal cut and quanti-qualitative result analysis. Twenty children between seven and ten years of age participated of the study; They were with leukemia diagnosis and were treating at the Oncohematology Service, in Child Hospital Joana de Gusmão, reference in chilhood cancer treament in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. To collect information about the motor performance and the life quality, the ABC test of child movement (Movement ABC) and the children and teenage life quality questionnaire (AUQEI) were used; beyond consults to the hospital child handbook, searching clinical information. As results of the study, were evidenced satisfactory results in both tests and it was observed a positive correlation between the motor performance and the life quality presented by children.
