RESUMO

To live is a human being inherent need. In the same way as drinking and eating, sheltering is fundamental in a persons life, and determinant to the formation and construction of a citizen identity. Brazilian absence or inadequacy of housing public politics leave a great part of the population apart from the housing need realizations. Invasions are the strategies found by the low income people to sort out , still inappropriately , their housing problems. Thus, subnormal occupations arise mostly without the minimum living conditions, bringing in their name, therefore, hope, wish and perspective to turn out a dignifying house, translated into access to collective usage facilities, comfort, security, which represent an affective territory as well, spreading their social relations. Occupations as Paraiso Azul and Recanto Feliz, in Salvador, are examples of invasions that live together with the daily violence and use the strategy of using names which addresse to the historical wish to live with dignity.
