Cultura Material, Patrimônio e Educação: as reduções jesuítico-guarani e o ensino de história

RESUMO

The present work evaluates the teaching of History, especially the academic topic The Seven Indian Settlements in the Missions Region, in the third and fourth year of Elementary Schools, in the region known as missioneira and in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre, the state capital. Parting from that study, an alternative proposal is introduced for the teaching of the history of the Missions. This new approach emphasizes a study centered in material evidences, through a Patrimonial Education and through experiments and the direct contact with historical legacies and cultural manifestations, in all their varied meanings and aspects. It is supposed that this approach will lead children as well as adults towards an active process of knowledge, appropriation and valorization of their cultural heritage.
