Controle e resistencia na organização do trabalho no setor automotivo : o caso de uma empresa montadora nos anos 90

RESUMO

The objective of this thesis is to discuss about the process of restructuring in the automobile industry. The focus is the analysis of new forms of control of labour process at workplace, urged by technological and organisational innovations and the new forms of work class resistance. The research was developed based a case study of two plants of a automobile enterprise in two different places in Brazil: one in Campinas and other in São Bernardo do Campo, the ABC s region. The period analysed was the 90 s, when the process of restructuring had a grate impulse in Brazil, specially in the automobile sector. The automobile sector is developing new competitive strategies, including geographic reallocation and new forms of labour process control through introduction technological and organisational innovations at the labour process and implicating new forms of work class control, in order to take the co-operation and to motivate the worker. At the same time, the work class and the trade union are developing news strategies of resistance, changing the relationship between capital and labour at the workplace. These new strategies of resistance trends to involve a decline of collective bargain, more negotiation between the enterprise and the trade union or the shop stewards about the aims of the enterprise, involving profits and competitivity and acceptation of neo-libeal trends of globalization. By the other side, there are yet inside the trade union, groups that emphasised a conflictive strategy of resistance at the workplace
