RESUMO

This research consists in the conception and implementation of a system for kinematic analysis of human movements, based on video registers. The guide concept is presented. Problems inherent to the three-dimensional kinematic analysis of human movements are formulated and solutions proposed. The implemented solutions are tested and applied examples shown. The main features of the proposed system are the independence in relation to dedicated hardware, the possibility to use passive and active markers under distinct experimental condition, the goodness of the results, the simplicity to operate and the low cost. Two video cameras or more register the movement of interest. The image sequences are digitalised and saved on the hard disk. The images are measured and analysed in a dedicated software, where algorithms to manual and automatic measurement are available. In the software were implemented tools for automatic tracking of markers, pattern recognition and image processing. In order to allow the three-dimensional analysis of movements, procedures are implemented for cameras calibration, co-ordinates reconstruction, register synchronisation from non-synchronised cameras and the estimation of the goodness from results
